The Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM was back in action on Saturday, June 11th with another Hot City Nights event featuring Modifieds, B-Mods, Stock Cars, Super Trucks and Pure Stocks.

After preliminary action was completed, the first feature of the night was the S.H. Automotive Pure Stocks with young David Garcia Jr sitting on pole. The field raced to the green flag and it didn’t take long for 9th starting Sharrii Minks to race forward and take the lead after just one lap, with 12th starting Michael Hartman quickly moving in to the top three with 11th starting Jeremy DuBois in hot pursuit. Hartman was able to dispatch Minks and race off with the lead while DuBois was trying to chase him down. Meanwhile, 14th starting Chris Spear was also moving forward as was 15th starting Diego Alvarado. Both drivers were trying to keep pace with the leaders, but Hartman and DuBois were the class of the field tonight. DuBois was able to race by Hartman into the top spot and take control until a late race restart allowed Hartman to work back by DuBois into the top spot and take the win. DuBois ran second with Spear, Alvarado and Minks rounding out the top five.

The Johnstone Supply Super Trucks were up next with Lloyd Duffey and Dawson Manicki dueling out front for the lead early, while 14th starting Christy Barnett very quickly worked her way through the field into top five and to the lead seemingly with ease tonight and drove off to yet another victory for her efforts. With Barnett out front, Manicki, Duffey and Rusty Bowen were in a good battle for the runner up spot, which Manicki would hold on to and cross the line with a second place finish ahead of Bowen, Duffey and Sherman Barnett who came home in fifth.

25 Hacienda Carpet & Tile USRA B-Mods took the green for the 20-lap main event with Mingo Jauregui racing from his 5th starting spot to the lead and taking command early, only to have the race marred by a half dozen caution flags and kept the field bunched up throughout the entire event. Jauregui, Christy Barnett, Dickie Gorham, Eric McNutt and Jesse Haynie battled out front during the green flag runs with Haynie able to sweep by both Barnett and Jauregui into the lead before a green-white-checkered brought the race to a merciful end with Haynie winning over a photo finish between Jauregui and Barnett for second. McNutt ran fourth and 18th starting Justin Allen crossed the line with a fifth-place finish.

The S&J Automotive USRA Stock Car main event was up next with Sherman Barnett pacing the field to the green flag and leading the opening lap before 6th starting Rob Moseley blasted from the third row into the lead and never looked back. Behind Moseley, Bryan Bennett, Jonathan Burton, Josh Reynolds and Jason Josselyn were in a solid race for the runner up spot. Bennett got to second first and tried to track down Moseley out front, while Burton and Josselyn were trading paint for third. Moseley was able to outlast Bennett and race off to the win with Bennett second at the line. Burton crossed the finish line third and after post-race disqualifications, Fred Gibson was awarded fourth and Craig Walker fifth in the final rundown.

The final event of the night was the Rancho Milagro URSA Modified 25-lapper and Jake Gallardo raced from his 8th starting spot to the lead early in the feature and was never contested, leading all 25-laps and driving off to an easy victory. Jimmy Ray ran in second for much of the event with Fito Gallardo third early until he and Ray made contact, damaging Gallardo’s car and forcing him out of the event. Ray was able to continue and tried to stay with Gallardo out front, but Jake was too strong and dominated the event for the win. Royal Jones and Christy Barnett moved into battle with Ray for second in the late stages of the race and Jones was able to use the high side to steal the runner up spot on the final lap, crossing the finish line in second with Ray third, just ahead of Barnett and Duane Murphy, who finished fifth.
