The Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM was back in action on Saturday, June 4th with another Hot City Nights event featuring Winged Sprint Cars, Modifieds, Stock Cars, Super Trucks and Legends.

Saturday night, the first feature of the night was the Hulsey Racing INEX Legends and after a wild opening lap flip by Dave Smith and several other ragged starts, the 20-lap event got off and running with a great battle between Sean Salazar and Dusty Riggs. Riggs would eventually wrestle the top spot away from Salazar and drive off to a comfortable advantage over the field, while 10th starting Zach Rodriguez and 8th starting Jacob Masterson were in a dogfight for third as well. Rodriguez would gain the advantage and take over third and then race by Salazar into the runner up spot late in the race, but Riggs was dominant tonight and raced to the victory. Rodriguez ran second with Salazar, Masterson and Cale Riggs rounding out the top five.

The Johnstone Supply Super Trucks were up next and another great battle ensured early between early leader Dawson Manicki, Cliff Evrage, Rusty Bowen, Sherman Barnett and Dave Deetz up front, while Mike Garcia, Christy Barnett and Dickie Gorham were working their way through the field toward the front. Just prior to the mid-point of the race Manicki spun in turn four to bring out the caution and Christy Barnett pitted to change a flat tire at the same time, shuffling up the running order on the restart. Evrage assumed the lead and drove out front ahead of a furious battle between Bowen, Gorham and Garcia, while Barnett charged from the tail. The laps wound down as the leaders battled hard out front, allowing Barnett to race back into contention with just a handful of laps remaining. Christy was strong tonight and raced by into the lead and picked up the win for her efforts. Bowen held off Gorham for second with Garcia and Manicki both rallying from the tail to finish 4th and 5th respectively.

The POWRi Jackson Compaction 305 Wing Sprint Car 25-lap main event saw fifth starting Caleb Saiz steal the lead from early pace setter Justin Lasiter and drive off to a dominating victory for his efforts. With Saiz all alone out front for the majority of the event, one of the best battles on the track was for the runner up spot between Lasiter and Wes Wofford with CJ Hulsey and Mike Archuleta in tow. Archuleta was able to race his way up to third, but jumped the final restart, relegating himself to a 4th place finish at the checkered behind Wofford and Hulsey, who chased Saiz to the line. Lasiter rounded out the top five.

The S&J Automotive USRA Stock Car main event was a good one as well with 5th starting Jonathan Burton coming out on top of a race-long battle out front with Rob Mosely, Bryan Bennett, Jason Josselyn and Dustin White. Daniel Sanchez Jr and Sherman Barnett paced the 20-lap feature to the green, but it was Burton who got to the top spot first and tried to drive away out front, but Bennett and White stayed right with Burton for the lead, not allowing him to get away. Moseley and Josselyn, who started 11th and 12th respectively, made their way into the battle, while Bennett, who spun and had to restart at the tail was also in the mix at the end. Burton would race off to the victory with Moseley edging Bennett for second at the line. Josselyn and White rounded out the top five.

The final event of the night was the Rancho Milagro URSA Modified 25-lapper and it was just one of those nights. The event had multiple cautions and was a lengthy event, but when the checkered flag flew, 7th starting Fito Gallardo beat 10th starting Jake Gallardo to the line after a 1-lap dash to determine the winner on the final lap. Jimmy Ray led the event early from the outside of the front row with pressure from Rocco Gallardo, Christy Barnett and Nick Rivera, but as mentioned a lot of caution flags plagued this event, slowing the action on multiple occasions. Fito was able to race into the lead and drive away out front with Jake Gallardo battling with both Jake Boles and Terry Tipton at one point during the event and also having to contend with 18th starting Royal Jones for second toward the end of the race as well. Fito was able to withstand a slider from Jake on the white flag lap to secure the win with Tipton racing from 11th to third, followed by 14th starting Greg Gorham in fourth and Boles rounding out the top five.
