The Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM was back in action on Saturday night, May 14th for another Hot City Night event, which saw Mercedes Abercrombie speed to her first Late Model win at Vado for her efforts.

Dusty Riggs tasted victory last week in his #01 Hulsey Racing INEX Legend and raced from his 4th starting spot in the main event to victory lane for the second straight week. The 20-lap Legend event was a good way to start off the night with Sean Salazar, Josh Jackson, Jacob Masterson and Riggs all battling out front for the majority of the event. Salazar took the lead early with Masterson in tow. Riggs and Jackson were right there as well as the top four drivers broke away from the pack and decided to settle it amongst themselves out front. As the leaders drove away 12th starting Dave Smith and 13th starting Zach Rodriguez were working their way through traffic, but the top four were just too strong tonight with Riggs racing to his second straight win ahead of Jackson and Masterson in the top three.

The S&J Automotive Stock Car feature was the second main of the night and Bryan Bennett and Jonathan Burton shared the front row in what would turn out to be a two-car duel out front all night long. Burton took control from the outside of the front row on the start and never really looked back, although Bennett was able to pressure Jonathan out front on several occasions. The leaders drove off out front, while Rob Moseley, Jose Salazar and Josh Reynolds did work inside the top five for the majority of the race, but none could get any closer than third as Burton raced to the win and Bennett crossed the line in second.

The POWRi Jackson Compaction Winged Sprint Car 25-lapper was up next with the most recent Winged Sprint Car winner, Vance Wofford, on the pole. Vance would jump to the lead on the start and quickly began to drive away from the field out front with Dylan Harris and Wes Wofford in hot pursuit. Rick Ziehl would join the battle out front and he and CJ Hulsey tried to stay with the leaders as the field quickly worked into lapped traffic. Vance continued to lead while Wes was able to get by Harris into second and began to pressure his brother for the top spot. Lapped traffic became thick and Vance made slight contact with a lapper, sending him up the track and damaging his #116, ending his great run and allowing Wes to take the top spot and drive off to the victory. Harris was able to hold off Ziehl through traffic for a runner up finish at the checkered.

The Hacienda Carpet & Tile USRA B-Mod main event was the fourth on the schedule and two-time winner Jesse Haynie earned the pole and took off at the drop of the green into the lead with Justin Allen, Dustin Smith, Lucas Ward and Israel Ortega doing battle just behind for second. With Haynie leading, the battle for second was excellent for the majority of the feature event. Mingo Jauregui and Christy Barnett joined the battle for second after the mid-point of the race, making it a six-car battle behind the leader. Haynie raced off to his third win of the season with Allen besting Smith for second at the line when the checkered flag flew.

The final event of the night was the Anthony Sosa Roofing Late Model 20-lap feature and nothing was left to the imagination in this one as polesitting Mercedes Abercrombie took control at the drop of the green and dominated the non-stop event, quickly driving away from the field and lapping up to the 5th place finisher when the event concluded. Abercrombie was the class of the field tonight as she was never challenged all event long, racing to her first Vado win ahead of second finishing Devan Smith, who paced ahead of Eric McNutt, who crossed the finish line in third.
