The Rancho Milagro USRA Modifieds were the support division to the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series on Tuesday night at the Vado Speedway Park and Royal Jones rolled his #131 into Rio Grande Waste Services Victory Lane after a wild and windy night in the desert.

New track record holder Tim Tharp paced the field to the green flag during the 25-lap, $1,000 to win event, but outside front row starter Jake Gallardo blasted into the early race lead and worked away from the field throughout the first half of the event, while Tharp, Philip Houston, Tom Georges and Royal Jones battled behind.

Gallardo stretched his legs as he drove away from the field while the battles behind him raged on.

Three cautions kept the field bunched up, but Gallardo was the class of the field and drove away on each restart with Georges and Jones continuing their battle for the runner up spot.

Jones was able to outlast Georges for second as Gallardo cross the finish line in dominating fashion. Unfortunately for Gallardo, but fortunately for Jones, Jake didn’t report to the tech area after his win, forcing track officials to disqualify him and elevating Jones to the win.

Georges was credited with the runner up finish, followed by 12th starting Brian Kleine, Tag Georges and Austin Adams rounding out the top five finishers.

Brad Sweet lead all 30 laps en route to his $10,000 payday with the World of Outlaws, topping the non-stop event that took just under 9 minutes to complete. Sheldon Haudenschild ran second with Donny Schatz rounding out the podium.

The Vado Speedway Park will be back in action this coming Saturday, April 2nd with the first visit by the POWRi Non-Winged Sprint Cars along with the Stock Cars, Legends, Super Trucks and Pure Stocks. Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 7:30.
