Another Hot City Nights program was held on Saturday, August 7th at the Vado Speedway Park and hot action on the track was the name of the game all night long during the five-division program.

As has been the case in the majority of the Claimer main events this year, the young gun trio of Daniel Sanchez Jr, Ryder McCutcheon and Cole Turner were the show during the 15-lap feature with Sanchez roaring to the top of the heap from his 13th starting spot. McCutcheon, who started 15th and Turner, from his 14th starting spot worked their way through the field quickly and battled out front at the end of the feature, crossing the line first-second and third, just ahead of Reymundo Lopez and Ray Abbott, who rounded out the top five.

After a heat race win earlier in the night, Xander Parra lead the field to the green and after an early race battle with Daniel Blaeser, fifth starting Jonathan Burton took over the top spot and raced away with his second feature win of the season ahead of 2020 Track Champion Bryan Bennett. Burton and Bennett ran out front while Shane McNutt, Brian Kleine and Fred Gibson worked into the top five, where they would cross the finish line.

Spencer Hill sat on the pole for the Non Wing Sprint Car feature and took the lead at the start of the event ahead of outside front row starting Cole Treharn. Treharn battled back as third starting Caleb Saiz took over the top spot and began to draw away from the field on the low grove of the speedway. As Saiz lead the field, Travis Oldfield worked into the runner up spot and began to try to track down Saiz out front. A Dereck DeMartino flip with just seven laps to go bunched the field and allowed Oldfield and JR Bonesteel to stay within striking distance, but Saiz stayed out front all event long and raced off to the victory. Oldfield held off Bonesteel for second with Hill and Arizona visitor Nick Parker rounding out the top five.

Justin Thornton used his pole position stating spot to his advantage and jumped out front at the drop of the green in the Super Truck feature and lead all 20 laps en route to his first feature win at Vado Speedway Park. As Thornton lead the field at the front of the pack, 9th starting Rusty Bowen, 10th starting Sherman Barnett, 11th starting Lloyd Duffey, 13th starting Christy Barnett and 16th starting Brian Kleine were in a heavy battle for the runner up spot for much of the event, with Bowen outlasting the rest of the field to cross the finish line behind Thornton’s #53JT. Sherman finished third ahead of Duffey and Christy Barnett in fifth.

The final event of the night was the 25-lap USRA Modified feature with Cory Hemphill on the pole. On the start, Hemphill and Austin Adams battled out front, while Christy Barnett worked into the second spot early. While the leaders were battling out front Terry Tipton ran inside the top five early, while 8th starting Nick Rivera was using the top side of the speedway to make progress forward. Rivera and Jimmy Ray both used the top line to work into the top five early and then continue their progression toward the front, with Rivera taking over the lead and racing off to the win over his father-in-law Ray in second. Barnett ran third with Jonathon Ortega and Tipton rounding out the top five when the checkered flag flew.
